Hi all, I decided to do a special post today and give a shout out to one of my best friends, who just created a blog yesterday. It's called Cracking the Spines and is about all the hard-to-find/rare/collectible books and graphic novels he has in his collection. If you like books and reading and all of that stuff, definitely tune into it. I love all those things so I will definitely be reading his blog!

So I haven't blogged consistently in a long time and I really feel like that is a shame. I think I'm an interesting enough person to keep a blog going, but it proves to be difficult when school arises and I still don't have all that I need for my computer. Communication with the internet world has proven tough and frankly an "out-of-my-way" sort of deal which I'm really beginning to hate. I really just want to be in my own room doing what I need to do online and not a 15 minute walk away from my room at the school's library, so it kinda sucks, but I'm trying really hard to remain optimistic. Today I'm having one of those days when I kinda want to retreat back into my dream world and hide away from things. Sounds like a good plan considering there seems to be nothing to do today, yet the world is still spinning. *sigh* But alas, like I said, the world is still spinning. On to the next things.

What I can be excited for however is always Skins. It's coming back with a vengeance on the 23rd of January. I'm so excited about it, though I will be late on seeing the episodes considering I'm in the US and can't watch it on tv and without my computer, I can't easily watch a livestream of it either. This season looks really good though. I'm excited to see where the writers take these characters. Have you seen the trailers yet?

Anyway, there you go. Kinda late on this, but oh well, I try *hehe* :-)

Smelling the Roses

So it's that time of year again. The time for some Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, love and family, friendship and romance. It's a beautiful and sometimes horrifying time of the year. I say this now that I am out of school and I have a bit more time to update the blog. I'm trying to get my laptop back in commission so that I can start posting all the projects I did in my textiles class. I was very excited about those, well, I still am, haha.

Right now I'm in the process of making my Christmas list... my mother's idea for this year. One thing at the top of my list... though it might go on my birthday list because my 22nd birthday is coming up soon as well, is perfume. I really want for some reason the new Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose fragrance, worn by Emma Watson in the campaign ads. She looks absolutely gorgeous and her necklaces are so simple, clean, and chic. I would love to have!!!!

Anyway, I will be updating before Christmas, but all in all, have a Happy Holidays and Winter Solstice :-D

Hi, everyone. I'm sorry I haven't been updating. But I've been busy for the most part with school and I've been having laptop problems yet again. This time I need a new battery and charger so I have been working without a laptop and I don't yet have the heart to try and update with my cellphone. It just wouldn't be the same for me. Anywho, I know it's the start of the holidays and I just want to wish everyone a happy and safe time this year. People act especially crazy around these times, haha... Anywayz, me and my sister made a Thanksgiving set for you guys to enjoy. When I think of Thanksgiving however, I tend to think of Wednesday Addams in the Addams Family Values movie. today I had a conversation with a sweet lady at the supermarket who had just turned 56, I think. She was dressed in this gorgeous pink color and just had a good spirit about her. She had also gone through a lot of personal loss, but you could tell she was a stronger woman because of it. Anyway, as we stood there looking at the expensive OPI nail polish I realized that you really can learn a lot from older people. You really can see inside what they are trying to get at if you take the time to listen and be open about things. Her advice, "you only have one day to worry about... today. Have goals, but don't get too stuck in looking at tomorrow or yesterday."

Revamp

So I've already stated that I really want to revamp my style this upcoming school year. According to one of my good friends, I already have a pretty good, style, but I'm just so shy that it comes off odd as opposed to being a trendsetter. Hmmm, food for thought I suppose. Not saying that's true, but it's definitely something to wonder about.

I'm definitely looking out for trends that I want to utilize when the school year starts. I just want to revamp my whole outlook on life. Now I have fun being me, but lately, I know that C.W. needs some work. I need to sit down and think about a five year plan. To think about the next move so that I can be working towards some goals of mine. I've always loved fashion, I've always loved comic books. I need to think of what I really want to do with my art degree because I have two years left and soon I will be applying for my major. I will be submitting a portfolio and I really need to strengthen up my skills. These are all things that I need to seriously consider before and when the school year starts. I also need to buckle down and start focusing on my classes. I do really well in school, but I haven't had a real challenge yet. I need to start preparing myself for the tough classes.

Anywho, I'm not trying to get all mystical on you or anything like that. I'm really excited about the new year, actually. I will be seeing my friends more often (hopefully), I will be moving into my new dorm, and just ready for the next chapter of my life!

I'm in a lazy summer mood today. I could barely stand class although we study American artists such as O'Keefe, so that was interesting. But all I wanted to do was feel the sunshine or something. I've just been in such romantic moods lately. I don't know. I would like someone to surprise me with a handpicked bouquet of daisies or something. Is that so much to ask for? Okay, so that's probably not happening anytime soon. Right now I would just be satisfied with having my laptop back. I'm sick of spending $200 on it everytime it needs to be fixed. I really want a Mac, and I thought I might get one, but should have known that wasn't going to happen. Anyway, I haven't polyvored in a really long time, so I thought I would share that sentiment I'm feeling.

Okay, so I'm in the middle of summer classes, it's the beginning of July and all I can think about is the impending Harry Potter movie that is about to come out. I am super excited about it like everyone else on the planet... unless, y'know, you live under a rock. Or you just don't like HP, which is all good, but some of my friends are throwing various HP parties around my area and I would really like to dress up. Now as an African American woman, there are not a lot of Harry Potter characters that I look like. I still plan to dress up anyway, haha, even if I'm not the most realistic character. I'm putting up a poll about who I should dress up as. I'm leaning toward Umbridge or maybe even a character like Ginny or a random Ravenclaw student! Or maybe I'll just dress cutely and draw a lightning bolt scar on my forehead, haha. Anywayz, to commemorate Harry Potter, coming out on the 15th of this month, magazines are showing off our favorite witch Ms. Hermione Granger or the lovely Emma Watson. Everyone knows I have a slight girl crush on her as well. She's so badass!

Sorry I've been nonexistent for a whole frocking month!!!! I know... crazy.. but I've been busy with my ex job and school... yeah... job really didn't pan out the way I expected it to. I guess that's what I get for working with a friend. I guess I'm meant to be a woman of leisure. OR I guess I need to get a new job. Whelp... hope to have that experience again... never. On another note, I've been very nostalgic lately. A year ago I was in a totally different place. I can't believe a year has past... quickly too. Well, I may not have love in my life, but there is still the love of my life. Penelope Cruz. I know, you know, everyone knows I have a monstrous crush on her. I mean, not the stalker, crazy type, but the girl crush, I would love to meet you type.

Isn't she gorgeous on the JUN cover of American Vogue? You don't have to answer that. Maybe you are just as speechless as me, haha. Okay, I'm cool now, I'm cool. You know, a bit before this time last year I was getting my first bikini. Now I'm looking for my second bikini. Again from Victoria's Secret. Why? Because they can respect a girl with curves. And we can all appreciate that.

Lately I've just been having this nostalgia. I keep wishing for the past, because I'm currently hating the present. I even asked my father about it and we dont' even talk that much. I don't know if I should reach out or not... suggestions?

So today is really not a great day for me, but I'm trying to, "Keep calm, and carry on" as they say. On a happier note, my abs hurt from doing an ab workout yesterday. As my friend Megan would say, Beach body, here I come" hahaha. Anyway, I'm so ready for school to be done with. Just a few more weeks and then this torturous endeavor will be done.

Hey all you April fools... what do you have planned for the day? Well, I don't have anything as the joke is already on me thanks to the Advisement Center at Georgia State University. Wow, it really ~~fucking~~ sucks. A lot. I am just ready to have this wretched day work out for me. On a happier note, I registered for classes anyway and your's truly is almost a junior and on her way to doing great things if I don't go crazy first. After seeing Katy Perry's E.T. video, I've been beyond inspired by aliens and outer space today so I thought I would share. It's really nicely done I think.

Anyway, later days. I've been feeling very artistic today so it's been a good drawing day. I also signed up for a graphic design course next semester... I hope that was the right decision. I really have no interest in graphic design, but I decided to give it ago with my friend Elizabeth. What if I end up loving it and I'm really great at it. Well, that would be surprising. Plus, I want to learn how to handle Photoshop. I wish I had a Mac laptop though. That would def come in handy.... we'll see how that goes. :-)

Okay, so those aren't the song lyrics, but I can't sleep tonight so I thought I would blog. And face it, it's not like I have too many updates this year. I was more on my game last year, but that's when I didn't have school. On another note the 29th was Black Swan's release date on DVD/Blu-Ray. I'm super excited although I don't have money for it at all, haha. To me that movie was majestic, creepy, thought-provoking, sexy, and a bunch of other adjectives. I was in love. All the things I like about my movies!

Okay, I keep putting off updating the blog and for that I am sorry. I guess I've just been so busy with college, but honestly, that's no excuse. I need inspiration though. Not for writing to feel like a job. that's why I love blogging in the first place. All I have on my mind is summertime... which won't be terribly fun when I have summer school. I mean, I wanted to enjoy summer, but I also want to try to catch up on schooling a bit. I really need to. Well, I don't really need to, but I want to, so summer school it is. On another note, what have I been doing with my life lately? Well, I went to see Sucker Punch (which in my opinion was a great movie). Sure it felt like one big video game, but would I be lying if I said I didn't like that about it... why yes, yes I would be.

Now, on another note, someone please help me to stop wanting to buy underpants, haha. Victoria's Secret... you are killing me!!!!! Everything is miraculous, incredible, very sexy, pink, and pushupable... I can't take it. I must buy it. Lol, good thing I don't have money. Yep, being broke definitely curbs my spending habits.

Okay, on another note, I already have a nice bikini to wear to the pool and I love it... but I want something more covered for when I go the gym... that won't make me look like I'm about to swim an olympic race (no offense, haha). Spring Breakers

This week is my Spring Break... yes, you are right, it is incredibly early. But I couldn't help that. The weather has thankfully warmed up though. You know I hate the dreariness. And me and my friend were looking at bikinis yesterday. Goodness, I'm so excited for summer. Or at least I'm excited for Springtime and warmer weather. I just love walking around outside in shorts and a tank top and listening to music and just letting the days melt into one another. That's perfect. I seriously don't know how anyone could enjoy winter over summer (save the people on the other side of the world that have winter for summer and vice versa). Anywho, I'm stuck in music mode and one song I cannot get over is "Young Blood" by The Naked and Famous. This is awesome and reminds me of summer. So does the video.

Happy Valentine's Day

Well, first off, it's Valentine's Day and also my late grandmother's birthday. I really miss and love her and wanted to talk about her for a bit. I wish I had pictures to show you as she was quite the fashionista in her heyday (haha). Oh the 60's and 70's were lovely times for fashions, haha. She even had an afro at one point... something I am aspiring to grow right now, as we speak!!!!

Sorry, I'm just now getting around to updating my blog. I just got a new hard drive put into my computer! Yay, and happiness and it really sucks that I had to get a new one put in anyway. Boooo, but thankfully the company I chose to fix it did really well on it. I'm excited about my new and working computer... even if I have to put all of my software back on my computer... so no scans or anything until I get my printer CD.

I don't have anything particularly planned for Valentine's Day. I mean, I don't want to give a post about flowers or the meaning of love or all that jazz. I figured you all get enough of that. I guess what I really want to talk about is a new wardrobe. I mean, fashion week started a few days ago, the groundhog said that spring was just around the corner, and all the fashion magazine's are getting ready for annual spring fashion issues coming up in the next few months. And while the weather is loverly here, I thought I would share a few things I really want to buy/wear this spring and summer. Because those seasons are my Valentine's this year and since I don't have anyone to eat chocolate covered strawberries with or drink champagne, that's what it's gonna be, haha.

1. A strapless jean dress. Specifically one that looks like this one from Buffalo Jeans:

wearing pretty lipstick... only I don't have any pretty lipstick. I think it's all thanks to Breakfast at Tiffany's. During the last scenes of the movie, Holly Golightly (played by Audrey Hepburn) gets ready to go to Brazil in a cab. She puts on her stylish coat and her pretty lipstick. I want my own pretty shade of orangy pink lipstick.

Simply chic and stunning. I love Breakfast at Tiffany's as every fashionista should (jk, but seriously).

Maybe it's the fact that I'm literally watching Breakfast at Tiffany's... or it could be the fact that it's literally raining like that in the ATL, haha. Goodness, I'm sick of the dreadful weather. I love the rain, but not the freezing, cold, crazy rain.

I'm suppose to be studying for my art history exam... I can't focus, haha.

Today is...

my last day of being 20! I'm excited for my 21st birthday tomorrow!!And I had a great day today. My suite mates invited me to their Kite Flying Festival where I had a lot of fun. I also decided to sign up to be a marrow donor which is a good as it can help leukemia patients. It was just an around good day. Only thing I'm pissed about is my computer. Goodness, when something goes well, something always has to mess up, but it's no big thing, haha.

Tonight is the premiere of the 5th season, 3rd generation, UK original Skins!!! I'm so excited. Of course I don't live in the UK so I will have to find another crappy means of watching it, but I'm so excited... who else is watching? C'mon, don't raise your hands all at once people... I can't wait to see how this cast tears it up!

I can't wait!!! Sorry I didn't talk a lot in this post. I have to get ready for art history class and I'm stuck in the library with a book I haven't cracked open in like the hour and a half I've had it... and to think I got it from the reserves in the library so you're only allowed to have the book for two hour intervals... ooops...

A touch of whimsy all around

Argh, haven't been updating the blog. I'm a failure, lol. Well, I've been busy getting into the swing of things at school, having friends break up with me, and all that other dramatic jazz that goes on when you are a young person in America... or well, a young person anywhere, but I won't be a young person for long. I have my 21st birthday coming up! I'm excited for it, but for me it seems like it's going to be a birthday that everyone forgets about... ugh... anyway school. For my first assignment in my 3D design class I have to build something out of cardboard... um... yeah... don't know how that's going to happen, yet happen it must. For my sculptor which I'm receiving inspiration from I chose David Black. He's a contemporary sculptor that is widely renown for his work. And I must say, I had never heard of him until I stumbled upon him in a magazine, but I must say his scupture work is amazing. It was so incredibly whimsical... and you know I love a touch of whimsy any day of the week:

Oh, goodness. Guys, I'm super sorry about not updating. I haven't had Internet and yesterday was the first day of classes so I've been getting ready for school. Anywho, last night was the premiere of Skins US!!!! I actually... um... kinda enjoyed it. I mean, all the things I thought I was going to liek about the show I ended up not liking and all the things I didn't think I liked, I ended up liking. Mainly Britne Oldford's characterization of Cadie. She played the character a bit darker and a different kind of "crazy" than Hannah Murray's Cassie. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and I think she will be my series favorite. While the acting was a bit rough to begin with, I think that's a bit expected on pilot episodes.

Anyway, I kept thinking the girl Tabitha was going to have a wardrobe malfunction. Anyway, until next time. Which should be soon, haha!!!

Visions of the Telly

Last night marked the winter premiere of the show that probably got my blog more hits than anything: Pretty Little Liars. Seriously, it did. I don't know what more to say about it. The show was full of its dramatic moments and cute fashions and everything.

I can't wait to see next weeks episode! I will of course, be in school then and whether my roommates have a TV or not is up for question. I suppose I could wait until they put the episodes online, but it's not the same. I'm seriously more excited for Skins US though. I mean, I really want this show to do well since the original, British show was and is still so amazing. I don't want America to ~~fcuk~~ mess it up and give the Brit show a bad rap. Kinda a guilty by association type thing. Anywho, I'm also excited for the season 5 of the original, British Skins, airing later this month as well. Well, January is just the spotlight of good tv that I'm looking forward too. Later on this month will be Hellcats and the Vampire Diaries!!!!! Can't wait for that.

Man, I can't wait for January to play out. Plus, all this before my 21st birthday!!! Well, that's just a bonus really. Now, if only Misfits was showing a new season in January...

Ugh, I hate sore throats more than anything, but at least my hermana made me some Italian Chamomile Tea. It kinda smells like one of the veggie Italian sausages my mother gets me... but still, it's making my throat feel better. Here's some from Zhena's Gypsy Tea:

Hmmmm, what to talk about today. This morning I bundled up after a shower and ate tomato soup with grilled cheese. And I watched Interview With the Vampire. Who doesn't love Kirsten Dunst. She was such a talented actress in that movie. A lot of the lines could have sounded corny and over the top, but she delivered them well in my opinion. But I'm not a movie critique. Seriously, I love movies, but I just love love the costumes.

She was scary.

These Boots Were Made For Walking

Today, I think I'm going to buy some boots. It's a hybrid birthday/Chrismahanukwanzakah/Winter Solstice gift for myself considering all my money will soon be going to art supplies and otehr college things like textbooks and all that stupid jazz like paper and stuff like lab fees... anywhoooooo, yeah. I really want some boots. And not just because I can't forget over the fact that every time Emma Watson walks out of the house, it's in cute boots. I mean, I remember the picture of her when she went to the Glastonbury Festival. She was spotted in Louboutin knee high boots. Very chic in my opinion, but as I can~~not~~ never afford a $1500 boot, I resort to trying to get the most for my money in a similar style. The only boots I looked at, had to be real leather. With all the sales going on, why shop for anything less... and no, I don't think it's being a bad vegetarian, but maybe. Okay, while you settle that moral conflict in your own head, I wanted my boot to be a riding boot. Like seriously, not a motorcycle boot, not some tall diva heel, not something I wouldn't feel comfortable, hanging out in. I found this lovely slouchy pair at JCPenney's..........only they are slouchy and don't go all the way up to my knee. It's a mid calf style. They are really cute and only $40, but I have slouchy boots and I really want the knee high ones... y'know, because of Emma. Even though I'm an Aquarius and meant to be a total trend setter and not care what others are wearing... if I believed in star signs at all. Anywhoooo, so the next store, DSW, I found the perfect ones... only they make my ankle hurt... why? I don't know. Maybe I have to get used to them or wear them in or I was wearing pants that pressed uncomfortably into my leg, I really don't know why they were hurting anyway.

Edit: Okay, I bought them anyway. And by golly, I will force myself to be comfortable in them!!!!!!

Anywho, have a great day with everything. I'm still getting last minute Xmas gifts :-/ *grumble grumble.*

Shirts vs. Skins

So the other day, the Skins e4 website was updated!!!! You know what that means, new characters to fawn over. Only when I look at them, I"m kinda only interested in the character Matty. He's kind of mysterious, though very cool. So far, he's reminding me of a male version of Effy. Anyway, here's the pic of the cast. I can't wait to see how they all play and fare together! Can you tell I'm excited?!

Yeah... I'm just liking this... only they are dressed so darkly. Now before you say it's just their clothing, I'm just thinking that the dark clothes could symbolize a darker series. I mean, the first cast seemed a bit more bright and they were a funnier generation in my opinion.

I'm not gonna lie, and I don't want to be a "traitor" to my original Skins fans, but as of right now, I'm really loving the style for the American Skins. I do love brightness.

I wear my fair bit of black, but you know my style is usually closer to Panda (colorful!!! and mixmatched) and Effy's (she had a slight kinderwhore vibe at times). Some people say I dress like straight up sexy and childish... I take it as a compliment, natch! But anywho, I'm just not getting into this fashion yet, except for Franky. The character on far stage left in the first pic. I'm also not gonna lie when I say the characters I'm most looking forward to getting to know are Matty, Franky, Tea (from US, for personality). Also a bit of Eura from the US (pictured stage right in the second pic). I mean, Kate Scodelario who plays Effy in the original Skins was such a powerful actress. She would go through episodes and command the show without uttering a word. She just had this powerful way about her and although I know that Skins US is going to change it up, I wonder if they will try to emulate that or just do something different with the character.

I want to do something more special than a normal post. Just something small and simple and that is what today is for me...

EDIT: I call it special, but really I just find things interesting.

So far...
Today:

my hair looks like Betty Deville's (the mother of Lil and Phil) from Rugrats. And I mean purple/blue headband and all. I'd post a pic, but I can't find the charger to my camera (*long drawn out boooooo*).

She was not the least bit stylish to me, but she had better hair than Dede, and that, I can appreciate (though Dede does kind of one up her in the fashion department by wanting to look like a geeky Wilma from the Flintstones mixed with Marge from the Simpsons [just sayin']).

I've been obsessed with the Rugrats lately.... I suppose it's due to how upset I am that they don't make cartoons like that anymore. Except for things like Adventure Time with Finn and Jake and a few other shows, I don't really find cartoons all like they used to be. And no, I don't think it's because I'm about to be 21 a little over a month. Which reminds me, I have got to go back to Hot Topic and buy my Reptar shirt. Reptar for the win. Well, until next post.

It's So Not Funnie

Well, right now I am super exhausted. I just got finished having a Girls' Night with all of my best friends!!! It was amazing. I don't have much to post right now... It's allmost one in the AM after all, but I did make this and I meant to post it!

I have gotten back into my childhood shows thanks to Netflix. Although Netflix does not have Doug for viewing, I must say that this is my little prod to get them to show it. No one other than fashionista Judy Funnie. She always had the coolest friends and hung out at the coolest, hipster spots or art galleries looking at paintings.

Maybe it's best not to emulate her complete style, but using it as a source of inspiration and giving a nod in her direction is always appreciated :-)

So I have just got New Year's on my mind. It will symbolize a new start for me and I can't wait to take it. like many of you know, this year has been utter hell for me. it's had it's ups, but it's had a lot of downs and I'm ready to start over and build things back up. I'm super excited about New Year's. When I'm excited about something, y'know I have to create an outfit for it. So I polyvored!! The Atlanta Comic-Con

Wowwwwwwwww, so I just got done volunteering for the Wizard World Atlanta Comic-Con. I am exhausted. I am sore. I am screaming out in pain. I am happy. It was ~~worth it~~ WORTH IT!!!!. I got to meet so many great artists and get a lot of free swag while meeting great people with a common interest like me!!! I'm happy to say that this weekend was one of the greatest as of late. As of ever I might even be able to say. Industry names such as Humberto Ramos, Greg Horn, Cameron Stewart, Headhunter Studios, as well as celebs like Vivica A. Fox and the foxy Pam Grier (who is a sweetheart and so down to earth! She signed my shirt). I got so many tips from artists on how to get better and build a better portfolio, etc. I am happy to say that I will take that advice. The con itself was very chill for the most part, but after all, it was the first con Wizard World did in Atl and as a critique, it was not publicized as well as it could have been. But it is worth going, espeicalliy as a student. I mean, tickets were like $5 for students! You really can't beat that. It's like visiting eight comic book shops and some of the best artists and celebs in one place... I mean, $5 in gas money to visit all these people? Please!

I have a lot of artist that I met and that I cannot wait to blog about.

So I had to go all over kingdom come for my January Nylon magazine. Man, am I exhausted too!!!!! Apart from trying ot start a tumblr (I still don't know what I'm going to use it for, I think for a illustrated novel maybe), I have to get ready to volunteer tomorrow morning. In fact, I should probably be asleep, haha. On another note, I finally found Nylon at my Barnes and Nobles which is only five minutes away from my house, yet feels so out of the way when I'm driving to it. anyway, they had a really informative article about Skins US. Now you know I'm a hardcore, HARDCORE fan of the original British show, but the American version is growing on me... like fungi I can't get rid of, yet I'm strangely content with... this basically means that I'm going to give it a fair shake. Plus anything that will help to rock the world of the masses, I'm content with it.

Also, I really want to see Black Swan already!!! It opened today with a limited release... and no, I do not live anywhere near Los Angeles or New York City... :-( But at least Nylon also featured a cover with the gorgeous Mila Kunis, who also stars in the movie.

I was so excited when I watched America's Next Top model to see Ann Ward, the awkward, tall, woman from Dallas, Texas take the "crown" of America's Next Top Model!!! She's been my favorite since the beginning. I really think she deserves it. I do feel bad for Chelsey though, but in my opinion, she can definitely make it on her own now that she's had a boost from the show. I hope I can find the Vogue Ann will be featured in. I know that Barnes & Nobles has a lot of the foreign editions of magazines. Anyone have any suggestions?

Goodness, she is just so gorgeous to me, but just totally different and something fashion needs in my opinion. I really hope that she takes it all the way and becomes a bona fide top model. The first thing I suggest, is being able to get to a dang go-see, but other than that, keep on keeping on girl. Can't wait to see her star shine.

I do wish she would have a fashion spread in Nylon as well. That would be awesome.

Okay, first off... of course I watched the Victoria's Secret fashion show. If there are four things I love (save family and friends and love itself) in this world it's lingerie, cupcakes, buttons, and of course SPRINKLES!!! But VS has everything to do about lingerie and little to do about the others... I mean, maybe you can say buttons, but it's mostly hooks and eyes for lingerie, haha. Anywayz, I think the fashion show was a success, it definitely made me visit the store today. Now you're probably thinking... of all the posts this girl has had about Victoria's Secret, I bet she visits the sotre at least once a week and the website at least once a day... and you'd be right. I do love Victoria's Secret to bits and pieces.

So I've been trying to get into this 3D design class forr school. I asked my friends and family to pray, do the tango, find a four leaf clover or what have you... apparently it worked because the impossible of the impossible happened and a spot opened up... when I was checking for it online... and even though I was registered for like six classes, I had no time conflicts... I am happy!!!!!! Okay, enough of that. I've been drawing like crazy these past few weeks. I don't know what really renewed my interest and spirit, but I did. I finally feel like I can finish drawings! They may not be the best quality, but to me, practicing to a better quality is what matters most. Plus, art always looks better in real life and when properly scanned and I like to make excuses for it.

I submitted this for a contest on dA. It was from this group called DesignersNexus. They hold monthly contests. The theme this month was about choosing a song that's a favorite and designing something around it. I choose "Water and Headphones" by The Ropes. I think it describes me pretty perfectly and whenever someone screws me over, I remember that they are just optional in my life. I don't and should not have have negative relationships in my life. :-)

Anywho, it took awhile for me to like the song and oddly enough, my ex introduced me to it and said that it reminded him of me. How right he was!

Happy Veggie Turkey Day

So I took a trip to art school the other day. More specifically, the School of Art and Design of Georgia State University. I had a blast!!!!! But it was also overwhelming. I mean, art is the only thing that challenges me and while I don't believe I'm very good at fine art... mainly because I consider myself a designer and not a fine artist, yet still an artist, I expect to be very challenged. I mean, I am terribly nervous about it. I want to succeed like I always have, but I also want more. I just feel so alive when I talk about art. You have no idea. It's my passion and I want to be in some way connected to it! I feel like a lot of my older work was so much stronger. I had someone pushing me then, but in the "real world" as everyone likes to call it, which is really this fictitious world where nothing good ever happens... Haha, but I'm still really excited!

But Happy Thanksgiving!!!! When I think of Thanksgiving I think of family... and Addams... and the Addams Family Values!

Now that's what Thanksgiving's about! Lol, bummer. But I'm still thankful that I'm living a better right now and it was a rough year, but I survived it. I'm thankful I reconnected with my best friends this year and that I ended negative relationships! I'm pretty excited for the new year! Anyway, I have to watch the parade with my sister. Oh, these traditions!!!!!!

Lol, and yes, as a vegetarian, I'm just eating my veggie turkey and my mommy makes dressing just for me with vegetable stock, etc. I love my family!!!!!

So I finallly ccaught up on my America's Next Top Model Cycle 15 show this week. It was awesome. I can't believe Ann and Chelsea are in the top two!!! I really hope they choose Ann. Chelsea and Ann are reminding me of Shandi and Yoanna from Cycle 2. Shandi dind't make it to top 2, but still. That was the first cycle I had seen and they choose Yoanna because she just wanted it sooooooo much and she just stole thier hearts I beleive, but Shandi had such an awesome way about her. I really think Ann can go even farther than Yoanna did. She's just got the most beautiful face. She's got the awkward prettiness that makes a model. Like one of my favorite models Iekeliene Stange:

I always thought she was so quirky. Sometimes she would wear those huge glasses on her face and I was like, "Love it!!!!"

But anyway, Tyra showed off her directorial debut in the form of a motion editiorial. I love it, so I thought I would share it here. It's titled "Modelli Folli" or "Model Madness" and was shot in Italy!!!

Developments in acting and coloring.

Okay, nothing new to report except that Harry Potter was fantastic last night!!! Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson have all developed so much as actors. Yay for being able to act out subtle emotions!!! Anyway, awesome! I also have an art update. I really am drawing more. At least one thing a day is what I'm aiming for, but no pressure. It's all about how I feel. I really am trying to develop my own skills. Anyway, here's another pic of my original character Vilette. She has such a colorful background.

Anyway, my scanner screws up most of the colors anyway, but I've started a new coloring thing hI randomly choose a color off of a color swatch set and do a design around it. The color I got today was the light orange melon color in her dress. I don't know about the dress design, but I love those shoes... and you know I want the stockings. As always, you can find my drawings on my dA account and more about Vilette. Oh, and I got new glasses today. They were finished much faster than I expected. The nurse at the optometrist's said my glasses would take a week, but they only took two days. That's a relief. They are these right here.

ZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMG Harry Potter tonight!!!!! I'm so excited! But first I'm gonna do a whole eight hours of volunteering, still manage to post this blog, maybe help my friend with math, and cheer my other friend up... and then go see the movie. I hope I don't fall asleep... I'm out of practice for doing that, plus the medicine I'm taking makes me extremely sleepy. Argh, maybe if I take it early enough I can abstain from sleep. Bahhhh!!!! I can't let health come in the way of H. P. Otter. But anywho, I've been toying around with my OCs (original characters) and their stories for quite some time and I know I've said a bit about Sydney Keek, but nothing about Vilette vil Lane, so here she is:

Home Improvements

Just wanted to get some practice in. I really need to practice my colored penciling... but I'm lazy and I hate them. But if I'm going to be a traditional artist, I need to know how to use them. Sure I know a lot of the things my art teachers told me, but I'm so lazy... that does not make for a good artist. I'll do something much better than this later. Well, much better than this coloring wise. :-) Her top is suppose to be purple with blue stripes but they are so faint. I love her hair though. I will definitely try to show improvement in the next piece.

Today is my little brother's birthday. He's turning five and I'm super proud of him. He's the most sarcastic and intelligent kid I know. I guess he gets his biting wit from his sisters. He definitely isn't the nicest kid. I'm sure he could go head to head with the devil in the Devil Wears Prada, haha. Well, I don't have much to say today except I'm so happy about getting more watchers on my dA account and more followers here on the blog. It really does excite me to like the highest nth degree. It's one of the simpler things that makes me super happy.

Tomorrow I'm going to get my eye exam. I haven't had one in years and now it's good bye to my trusty ray-Bans... man, I love those things. I kinda just want to tell them to take out the old lens and refill them, if only I didn't need new frames anyway. I did find this other super cool site the other day that features glasses from lesser none designers and for far cheaper than my favorites made in Italy. It's called Spex Club. All the glasses are really art chic and right up my alley. They even have a handy face chart to tell you what glasses might look best on the shape of your face. Cuz I'm Frosty

So I've been drawing a lot more lately... mainly because I was making gift art for a friend. Making things for a purpose that's not just for me, definitely motivates me more. Anyway, he really loves Emma Frost as I've said before, so here's what I ended up drawing him. Two drawings since he didn't seem as pleased with the first one so I had to make it better.

This is the first take. She was okay, but I thought I could do better. That's a skimpy outfit...

This is take number two, which we both liked a lot more. She's in her White Queen getup only I made a few changes to her costume.

Anyway, these are featured in my DeviantArt account. I hope you enjoyed them. I really like doing fan art. I'm going to have to do more of it... it let's my creative juices focuses on the body and pose more than the costume, etc.

So I look at my website today and I almost yell *Holy Sh!t* out so as to disturb the mental connections of my brain. This is all from all you followers. So, thank you very kind for you muchness. Lately I've been focusing on my hair. I got my mother to braid it today. I love having my hair braided, mostly because I get to keep it out of my face for a spell. Anyway, I managed to snag a cute sweater dress "from" Express the other day. Really it's from Rugged Wearhouse. I got it for only $12 and you know I like cheapness!!! And I bought some more Betsey Johnson, over the knee socks... see this post for more info about those. I've pretty much bought the whole store up in those socks... z

Anyway, because of this, I thought I would share more photos... in fact, I've even included something I've made.

I love love love these socks... in case the color is a bit funky, they are red, black, and a forest green color. Argyle is sweet!!!

This is my Express dress that cost $50 but I got it for $12. Now that's ruining the economy, but saving my wallet, now isn't it?

I really feel like using this picture for a blog header or something. I like my nail polish. It's Dream On from SinfulColors. It's a matte shade, which makes it even more awesome to me!!!!

This is a pair of overalls that I cut to make into a skirt. I haven't hemmed it yet, or tailored it at all so it's a bit undone, but there's the idea behind it. It's corduroy which is just perfect for fall. Also bought those tights at Rugged. I love them. I don't know why they come off as a kind of eggplant purple, but they really are more of a maroon color instead. Ah, well.

This is the shirt I made in my first sewing class. I think I did a pretty good job on it, if I do say so myself. You know I never wear it because I want to keep it clean and prim and I don't want to rip it, but at least if I wore it, it would have a story. I think I'll wear it out soon. I needed a good cream colored blouse and by golly, why not wear the one I made?

Anyway, I'm so thankful for all the awesome followers. My blog is slowly growing and that makes me beyond happy. Just one step closer to ~~world domination~~ getting more exposure. I should have some drawings up soon if my scanner will work. I'm suppose to be drawing my friend Emma Frost. He's obsessed with her and I kinda yelled at him the other day, so it's my "apology gift."

So my knitting project is underway. I can't wait to see if I will succeed in making it actually wearable and functional and cute, haha. And wow, over 4,000 views!!!! I'm so happy about this. Thanks to everyone who made that possible, yet again. I know I am always gushing about these kinds of things, but it really does excite me!

Anywho, I was going to scan some things for you today, but apparently my printer and my computer had a falling out and they are on a break with one another, so I couldn't get anything done. But one of my friends posted something on Facebook and I thought I would share it as well.

Anyway, yours truly is a messy person.

It's the DIY Stain collection t-shirt!!! I find it hilariously amazing and totally a shirt I need... today alone I split water all over my pants and goodness knows what else on my shirt.

Knit Two Purl One

My mind has not been in the right place, these past few days... I've been meaning to update, but things just kept getting in the way and out of frustration, I haven't felt like updating, but my blog is one of the only things I consider that keep me anchored to the outside world. I don't know if I have many readers, but I definitely have more followers than I started out with, and for that... I can be grateful. I have managed to sketch a bit. Sorry, but I don't have any pictures of my Halloween costume. I had meant to dress up after work on Sunday, but they kept me for a 10 hour shift!!! And what sucks about my job, is that I wasn't even scheduled to work. They leave me off the schedule ~~on purpose~~ and then have me on call all the time! ~~Three~~ Four times this has happened!! My friend thinks I should call corporate on my boss. She infuriates me so I'm looking for a new job. I am thankful I have a job because I know there are people without one... but really it feels like I don't have one because they keep me off of the schedule even when I bring it up!

Also I am obsessed with the November issue of InStyle... I have been filling up a lot of my jobless time reading it... I really only got it, not because I've read it before... I hadn't... or who was on the cover (Rachel McAdams, though I do admit to thinking she is gorgeous and fabulous and a lovely actress), but because of the dress on the cover. Dior!!! I was trying to find a good enough pictures, but I can't find one... Argh, I love love that dress. It's pretty and light and pink!!! I could scan my magazine, but I don't want to do that, so um... go check it out on newsstands or whatever.

Anyway, it's fall time and it's actually gotten cold here in GA... or a nice fall temperature and it's inspired me to take up knitting again. You know I do every year... last year I knit my then boyfriend a scarf... and the year before that I knit my two best friends scarves... but this time I would like to do something different. One of my favorite websites to not even just to try out patterns, but just to look because most of them are so cool or beautiful or innovative or kick ass, that I have to look is Knitty!!!!! It's a seasonal knit magazine that has the coolest patterns no matter what your fancy. And I love it because on site they have a bunch of free patterns... not just free patterns to entice you to buy more patterns or free patterns that are all jacked up, but real honest to goodness gorgeous patterns... and a lot of them too. No matter what your cup of tea. This year I would like to make a hat for myself, but I want something quick and easy for potential gifts for friends... then I thought back to something a bit cuter than the average scarf and a lot faster to make. And I thought of these:

The little knit/crocheted headband/ear cozies. But I'm cheap and would much rather make my own. I had seen something liek this on Knitty before and I found the pattern again.

The pattern is Calorimetry by Kathryn Schoendorf and is super cute. It's even labeled "mellow" by Knitty which means that it's begginer friendly in case you don't know the first thing about wierding two metal/bamboo/wood sticks. Anyway, go be supportive of the designer who created her version of this and make one for yourself. Plus, as most knitters know... knitting is expensive. Especially for quality, so being able to make something with one skein of yarn is def a plus plus plus!!! I don't have to skimp out on buying decent quality stuff this time... I think it would be very cute to even clip your own bow or flower on it. Oh, what the hey, I think I'll eschew the hat and just make one for myself...

But if you don't feel like making one... then um... you can always buy some really cute ones (yes, I am polyvoring again... it's been far too long XD):

This is Halloween!!!!! Everybody Scream!

I'm going to have more posts of my Halloween costume up tomorrow hopefully. I went as a magician and do to work related things and just other sheer annoyance and four letter words... I didn't get to finish my costume in time for a party I went to last night and also to go trick-or-treating with my little brother tonight. Anywayz, so that I don't leave you in an un-Halloweeny spirit. I thought I would share one of my favorite Halloween videos and also some awesome make-up/beauty Halloween tutorials.

While I was looking at this video, I also found a make-up tutorial for an Unzipped Eye by a man named Josh. He has his own website/blog: Petrilude.com where he shows his make-up tutorials. While I myself know nothing about make-up, his work is very professional and fun and some of it downright scary (but the good scary, haha).

Anyway, if that doesn't put you in the creepy, ready for later tonight mood, I don't know what will, haha!!!!!

I also found this awesome tutorial on how to do "Vampire Halloween Nails." This video is by a woman named Kaire de Lys. She has several different websites you can find her on. These are all linked from her youtube account, so head over there to find out more about her work.

I know vampires are one of the most common costume choices that people do, but I haven't seen this done before so I'm sure you would give your costume an edge by having something different and creative like this. But who says it has to be vampires, any blood thirsty killer might have these nails. Or zombies, or guro lolitas... or just something to do.

Yay!!!! Project Runway Finale

Okay, really quickly, Vampire Diaries came on tonight and it was amazing. Katherine kicks ass!!!! But back to the subject at hand: Project Runway!!!! This season's designers were really talented all around in my opinion. I don't know if it's because they changed the format of the show and made each episode feel like a movie (each episode is an 1 1/2 hours), but I feel like we know more about the designers and such. I really enjoyed this season!

And the winner was Gretchen!!!! I was really excited that she won. While she hasn't been the nicest, she has definitely been the most consistent and her final collection was beautiful. I loved Andy and Mondo as well, however. They are living many a designer's dream right now.

I'm kind of glad the judges chose fashion and the ability of what can sell and what people will would actually buy. I really do think of fashion as an art form, but you need to be able to wear the clothes too. I think Gretchen a nice match up of that. I hope she can use winning Project Runway to her advantage. Many of the designers have all but gone back into their present obscurity save a few. (I would argue that Christian Siriano has definitely used his exposure from Project Runway to his advantage). Anyway, what will I do with my Thursday nights now? Other than the rest of the season of Vampire Diaries!!!!!! It was the best episode yet, you guys. Until the next post then.

We've got spirit yes we do... and Skins US...

First off on important things, I wanted to say that yesterday was Spirit Day! I wore purple to support GLAAD and people of any and all sexual orientations, backgrounds, religions, creeds, ethnicities, cultures, etc. Just like I wrote on my dA account, to paraphrase a bit, I'm supporting, "anyone who has been oppressed because of who they are and love. I condemn the hate that is so rampant in our society!!! You might not share the same views on what's right or wrong about different types of sexuality, but when it comes to bullying, there is NO reason for it!! It doesn't change anything positively, but it promotes more hate and violence and self-harm (such as in these suicides, but also the self-loathing that many people can face). Those are the things I feel we should all be against. Sex and gender is only a small part of who we are in the grand scheme of things, the love we share should be a greater part!

I don't have any big post for today, I really have jsut been tryin got get together my Halloween costume while complaining about how I'm not on schedule at work... it's very frustrating and unprofessional in my opinion. I have been looking forward to Skins however. On Facebook, they said that they would be showing more info about the American version of Skins... well, I'm not going to lie and say I'm totally excited. I feel as if America kind of seems cocky when we feel the need to redo shows stateside. Almost like the original shows aren't good enough to air over here, so we must redo them. It's obnoxious (they are doing it with Shameless as well, an awesome show!). But I do miss Skins terribly. Yesterday I bought some Betsey Johnson over-the-knee socks (they were of course on sale for just $4) and they seriously reminded me of something Pandora would wear. I miss Skins Series 3 cast!!!!

Anyway, here is a picture story of me in my socks... really, it's just a bunch of random pictures I took. Oh, well:

I can't be more excited about making this hat. I havent' finished completely, but I really wanted to share pictures anyway!!! I used a hot glue gun for my hat... I really wouldn't recommend that for a first timer like me... it was all I had, but I just can't work fast enough and hot glue is so messy. But if you are skilled at hot glue gun or you have made one before, than I'm sure you would fare better. Anyway, I have yet to attach a head band or a clip to it and I still wnat to have more ribbons so that they can be all flowy down my back. I'm so super excited. Now if only the guy I liked could pay any mind to me :-0 hahahahaha, oh, well. I intend to look cute anywayz! After this whole dry spell of not having or wanting to update about anything, I know have all these awesome fashiony happenings staring me in the face. I don't want to do five posts in one day, but that's what it's looking like, haha. Anyway, here are some pictures of my hat and the process of making it:

Here's a pattern I made out of scratch sketchbook paper. That's what that drawing it on the white circle. I made a circle with a 4 in. diameter.

Another view of that. Love the June Tailor cutting bored my sister got me :-)

I cut out the smaller circle for the top of the hat. I think the diameter was 2.5 in.

Here they are again, on my special edition Strathmore Sketch recycled sketchbook, (lmao, it really does have a very pretty cover though).

I had to cut out the actual hat part. I just multiplied my little circle's diameter (2.5 in.) by pi (roughtly 3.14) to get a little less than 8 in.

This is before it's glued, I'm sure. I just pinned it down to see what it would look like.

Decided to hot glue that wired ribbon to the hat.

And I made a bow out of the purple ribbon!

Sewed the purple bow (not hot glued) on with a button.

It definitely is still a work in progress. I have to clean it up a bit, but it's just for Halloween so I don't think anyone will be that sober to notice all the mess ups I've made (fingers crossed). I am just glad I actually made something and doing the ribbon crossing over it has just made the hat more sturdy because of the hot glue drying. I really can't wait to attach it to something and wear it!

Okay, really I'm going as a magician I decided. But, argh!!! What am I doing? Well, I have been scrambling like crazy to apply to college, work, and also make me and my friends Halloween party kickass!!!!! My costume is finally coming together and I'm excited!!! I bought to things for my hat so hopefully it will be coming together. Here are some pictures to show how my costume is coming along and also the things for my hat! There are two ribbons, one is a sheer purple with sparkles and the other is just silver. They are both wired, however. I'm so excited!!!! They are so pretty, I hope the hat I make can do my costume justice!

This is also the felt I want to use for the hat.

I'm feeling the pressure to apply to yet another college again. It really makes me feel dispirited when I realize I'm applying to yet another school I'm just not passionate about going to and majoring in something I just don't want to major in... I mean, I don't want to just apply to another school with the thought that I will just apply somewhere else later on. I want to be at the school I want to be now!!!!!! But I am seriously enjoying the Halloween party planning. I'm kinda leaning toward going as a magician for Halloween. It's something I've never seen anyone in my life do... I think it's pretty original and I would still be able to make most of my costume, thus still making it original, yet lowering the stress of getting every bit and piece finished. I even found a really cute video on YouTube about making a mini top-hat. Oh, you guys know how I love lolita-esqe things!

I think it's a pretty simple tutorial that leaves a lot to be decided by the person making the hat which I like. I hope to use lots of ribbons or lace for my own and just make a cute magician costume.

I am figuring that a leotard and maybe a trip to Goodwill to look for a tuxedo jacket or something is in order. Perhaps I shall go today. I have sketched this out roughly... do I want to upload it, yes... will I do it today, maybe. Only a maybe because I don't feel like hauling out my scanner right now and fooling with that thing for about forever.

Sweet & Flirty

I am so in the Halloween spirit!!! And I promise this update was another one of those, "I had too many ideas and made up several posts but neglected to actually publish one" kind of things again. it's because I've just been living life!!! And I'm all the more happier for it for the most part! Today, I really wanted to treat myself. I feel like I've been doing better emotionally and opening up more to people and trusting more while also trusting myself more. I'm actually starting to enjoy the person I'm becoming and that's a very good thing. So to treat myself, I went, where else? Victoria's Secret. My favorite among favorite places to shop! I have been in love with a certain PINK body spray. The Sweet & Flirty. So today after going to the doctor, I headed over the Victoria's Secret in Peachtree City, GA. They were having a sell on it. 2 for $22 on all of the PINK body line. I had to have the lotion as well, so I got the 500 mL body lotion and the 200 mL body mist!!!!! I am so looking forward to smelling awesome these holidays! I mean, the holidays are usually and obnoxiously characterized as the time for cozying and cuddling up to one another in this chilly weather, so who doesn't want to smell great? I will say that I am ready for this to be the best autumn of my life so far and I am ready to share love with more and more people and myself!!!! So here's an ode to that:

New Muse? Hold Up!

Nothing to say... just wanted to share more art with you all. I'm really trying to update as much as possible and draw as much as possible. I updated just a few hours ago actually. Not even a full day, but I feel like I've got a new muse now!! I'm meeting new people and discovering a lot about myself. Like I can be me and still have so much fun, to not be so inhibited!

This is just a girl I sketched pretty quickly last night just for the heck of it and then colored super fast this morning. I need to start putting out quality work, but whatevs (haha). She's sketched on just sketchbook paper in blue ballpoint pen. She is colored with crayons, colored pencils, permanent markers, and a little standard #2 pencil. Her bunny purse is messed up, and I can see a lot of mistakes, but I like this. I like the hair and skin tone combination. Also I tend to write random words or phrases when I draw, so I don't know where "hold up" came from. And I'm pretty sure I drew her arms afterwards, so I don't think they made me associate that. Ah, well. The sweet mysteries of life. Until the next fashion post or drawing.

Dark Grecian for Halloween?

Halloween is coming up!!!!! I'm not a hardcore celebrator, but honestly, as spoken by the character Caty in Mean Girls, "in girl world it's the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it. The hardcore girls just wear lingerie and some form of animal ears." but I'm not a hardcore girl, so I kind of want to recycle an idea I did a couple of years ago. I went as a dark Grecian goddess for my theatre program's Halloween meeting. Sure it's not completely original, but I was proud of my costume back then because I made it start to finish by myself. I bought a bunch of black fabric with a nice black stitched pattern in it and then I used this pretty gold sparkling ribbon. I didn't have the sewing skills are the time I have now, so I would like to make a new rendition of that theme and take it to the next level.

I love old Grecian history of costume and I draw lots of inspiration from it from time to time. Especially when I think of raw and pure sex appeal. I don't think a girl needs to look like a "naughty school girl or a naughty nun" for Halloween to be sexy.

So this is my mission for my Halloween costume. I love making my own things... duh... I want to be a fashion designer. So hopefully this pans out. Here's my design so far. It's subject to change and just a quick sketch and coloring job.

Gargh!!! Such a goddess-aweful scan job. And it's a sucky colored pencil job as well, but I was rushing... I hate coloring things, haha. But I'm sick of things not being colorful... I'm so complicated. Anyway, hope you like the design. You can find out more about it H!E!R!E

Tough and Feminine

Okay, I haven't updated in a week!!! Eeeeek!!! I had no idea it had been that long. I've just been all consumed in trying to draw and get some of my work out. As well as just dealing with all the other stresses of life. Posting in and of itself can be stressful for me. I only have a few drawing scraps from today, nothing finished yet, but then again, for more finished work you can actually go to my art account. But for now, just scraps, haha. I can expound more on my ideas, etc.

this is just a random lingerie design I have been working on. It's a random character and I know it's a bit rough, but in the next few days I am hoping to add color, etc to it. Goodness her proportions are really off, but that's how it goes. This was more drawn just for the sake of drawing and learning and getting rid of art block than for awesomeness. I do think the design is pretty cute though. Kind of tough but still feminine. Still toying around with where I want to take this however. Any comments or helpful critiques would be appreciated. I'm always open to learning more.

I have two more things I wanted to post on here that are works in progress or just scraps, but my files weren't cooperating with me. Anyway, sorry for the long wait to update. I'll be trying to get more art out to you. This post is so lacking color...

Tired tired tired tired... from this new job. My back is killing me. I should stretch before I work because standing for 6+ hours straight just seems to crunch your spine up. Pain, excruciating pain. But I haven't been too expired to come up with a post anyway. So I'm really sorry about that. I just want other things to get better and for me to be steadily making money ~~and for my boyfriend to come visit me... I'm cursed with these phcking long distance relationships... Bargh!!!~~ Anyway, yesterday marked the last day of New York Fashion Week for the Spring 2011 collections. Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. line was one of the last to go. This year, she used lots of yellows, reds, blues... actually, that's not so different than her usual color palette. She likes a lot of primary colors it seems. She also had a very pretty geometric print and a butterfly print. They almost looked like cutouts. I would love to have some of those dresses. Her runway played up a lot of silhouettes and a lot of different draping.

I don't need these things to live, but it would help me live prettier.

So... I worked my first shift today!!! And man, was it tiring... I never knew there was so many combinations of things you could get from McDonald's... it's enough to make my head spin!! Everyone is really nice though and I'm thankful for that. I truly am. It puts me in a good mood. My way of thinking about things has been working for the most part so far. I have been living in the moment and trying not to focus on the bigger picture for now. I like it because I can answer people more honestly when they ask me how I am. Right now at this moment, I feel amazing other than missing my love! Anyway, in about a week, it won't be summer anymore. It will be fall/autumn. I'm kind of glad about this as well, and not just for the fashion. I really am glad that the summer will be done. It definitely hasn't been the best. But I'm looking towards the better things in life. I made a set inspired on my experiences this summer and how I'm looking toward the next chapter of my life. As my love calls me, princess. I have been feeling like one lately and that makes me happy. So here is my princess set.

I love the color purple and I have since I was little. It frequently represents pain/bruising, mystery, as well as an earthiness, but also royalty. This marks the end of summer (which hasn't been the best for me) and the beginning of autumn (coming up in a week). I wanted to make a more playful set, going with the royalty theme and saying goodbye to the more painful side of things.
I love dresses that are kind of off-beat and this dress is whimsical, and princess-y while also reminding me of gauze and/or bandages that are unraveling to begin something anew.

Me thinks that Halloween is in the air!!!! Pretty soon all the empty places around where I live will be renovated out to showcase Halloween/costume boutiques. I am excited! I haven't been able to celebrate Halloween as well as I would like. I am too old for trick-or-treating, but I don't have my own place so I can't pass out candy. Oh well. Did you watch the VMAs last night. I actually enjoyed it. Haley Williams singing "Airplanes" was great as well as Paramore's performance...amazing. Taylor Swift sang gorgeously. And Florence and the Machine's performance. Lady Gaga, as off beat and off the wall as she is, was really genuine. I just enjoyed the whole thing actually and that's kinda rare for me. I don't really like award shows. I must say that I must comment on two attendees outfits in this short post. Why is this post going to be short? Because your's truly finally has a job!!!!! It's at that place with French fries and the golden arches, haha.

The first was Ke$ha's... people say she looks and acts and is trash and she has commented on that. I love how she kind of made a statement against that and decided to wear a trash bag as her dress. It actually didn't look bad at all. She said the bags came from "Home Depot."

I love Amber Riley's (Mercedes from Glee and far left) dress. It looked great on her! I don't know why Chris Colfer (Kurt on Glee and far right) chose that to wear. Perhaps I missed something and he did a change. Just wondering why he looked so casual. Actually it's a so different from Kurt's persona on Glee.

Can't say that I'm in love with her glasses with the dress. But it's still a really cute look.

I figured more people might focus on, yes, Gaga's meat dress which was disturbing, disgusting, and kinda awesome all in one. You can see it in this video below!!!

Must mention that Lindsay Lohan's dress in her sketch with Chelsea Handler was very cute. That's all. I'm tired. Goodnight!!!

Fashion Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had so much stuff to blog about this morning and last night. You may hate me. Fashion is so fast and ever-changing you barely have time to snooze, but I'm not so hard on myself, I'm not submerged in the fashion world ~~yet~~. today marks the first day of New York Fashion Week... not that I'm' there and you can keep updates on it by following my twitter. I wish... I don't even have a twitter and cannot fathom having one unless I did go to things like New York fashion week and whatnot. But before you hear anything about me that you already know, let us move on. As this is a fashion blog, I must mention Fashion Week. It almost seems sacrilegious if I don't... which is in turn, probably sacrilegious. Since I can't be there and if you're reading this, you probably can't be there. You can always check it out:

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Announces Exclusive Features...

Today's lineup for Fashion Week (according to theMercedes-Benz Fashion Week website) include Project Runway!!! Almost weird how the show's not even finished airing on TV. There are 10 designers left still for all the rest of us viewers. So some of you already know the top three designers... No fair!

Keeping with the Project Runway theme, there is also Christian Siriano (season 4's winner) showing his collection today. I must say Siriano has far surpassed any recognition of Project Runway in my opinion. He will not be/is not known for Project Runway (completely), but for his awesome designs which the show helped to get out there. He's definitely talented in his own right and it's a breath of fresh air because he's not resting on his laurels. By the way, meant to do a post about his collaboration with Payless ShoeSource. Who doesn't want his accessories for a lot less!?

The night end's with Richie Rich debuting his solo collection. Heatherette was one of my favorite lines. It's definietly one of the reasons I wanted to go into fashion. Didn't you read my post about Heatherette from before? I definitely am looking forward to supporting Rich (in spirit as oppose to in dollars, haha) in his solo endeavor! I'm wishing him the best!

Instead of all of this, I will be going shopping with friends with the money I do not have... so window shopping and also tuning into the season 2 premiere of Vampire Diaries which I'm just as excited for, haha. I really really am too lazy to put a pretty picture on this today, mostly because I have enough links... so um... laters :-)

Networking, Dancing, and Swans: A movie post.

It's funny, but when I went to art school... for a brief semester, the number one word I heard was network, networking, network network network... It was almost funny and predictable how when I would go and hear someone at the school speak their talk always led them to the same conclusion... networking is important especially for a career in the arts, blah blah and whatnot. And I suppose they are right. Nothing else is easier than making network connections than Facebook though, right? The latest reason to overuse the phrase is the upcoming movie The Social Network movie based on the founding of Facebook... Okay, I must say I had heard of the movie a little while ago online, but while people said it looked interesting I thought they were crazy and quickly shrugged it off. I mean, really? But just today I was finally able to see the full trailer for the movie... I must say I was um ~~pleasantly~~ surprise. I mean it actually looked ~~really good~~ decent. I might even actually pay ~~$9.50 to see it~~ $5 on the matinée to see it. It comes out on October 1st. What really got me going though was seeing a movie with Brenda Song! That's what really peaked my interest. She's long been the doll of Disney channel and I completely respect her for not selling out and being some sex symbol at the age of 17 or going to rehab when she was 15. She's one of the coolest actresses around and like I said in my Machete post, we need more people of color in movies. And not just playing the character roles. And although she looks sexy in the trailer and is doing some extreme making out, etc. I really think this is a step forward for her while not alienating her younger fans or anything with a wild overtly sexual music video or leaked sex tape. She's a classy actress.

Her other movie that she will be in coming out this year is the movie Boogie Town. It's loosely based off of West Side Story and again has the potential to be somewhat laughable to me, but dare I say it again, the trailer actually looks like it could be an okay movie. It's more serious and futuristic, but again it's another dance battle type movie, of course. I don't know the release date, but it shouldn't be too far off. I guess this year is the year of Miss Song and we get to see her in more grown up acting roles not meant to be seen by children under twelve. But again, I think she's doing in in a more classy route. After all, she is 22, not 17.

Vampire Diaries' Katerina Graham is also starring in the movie!

A~~nother~~ movie that I am really psyched to see is Black Swan. Excuse me, but have you seen the trailer for this???!!!!!!! It looks amazing, starring Natalie Portman as a ballerina going mad. The movie also features Mila Kunis, who frankly, could never be on TV or in movies too much to me. She's so adorable and I want to see her in even more things in the future! Anyway, if you google it you will see that many reviewers are comparing it to The Red Shoes, which is a great movie (One of my favorite ballet movies is The Unfinished Dance as well). As many children, I dreamed of being a ballet dancer and I wore a tutu all the time. Sadly, I had no money for classes or anything of that nature, so wearing a tutu and a beginner ballet class I took last year in college, that was the closest I ever got to being one. If I had seen Black Swan when I was younger, I don't know if I would be scared of becoming one. The movie shows Portman as a ballerina that seems to be literally losing her sanity and showing that although there is an innocence and goodness to her, there is also a darkness... and a creepy one at that! But it's got everything I could love about a movie. First off, it's about ballerinas and pretty costumes, secondly it's not horror/blood and guts, but a psychological thriller (the mind is the scariest place after all). Thirdly, Portman and Kunis are starring in it! I'll probably have to blog more about this movie when I see it. The limited release date is December 1st, so hopefully it will be around where I live shortly after that.

So there you have it. Some movies. One of which I cannot wait to see and two that I wouldn't mind seeing. Also, because I mention Vampire Diaries like twice in this post, I have to mention that this Thursday, Sept. 9 is the premiere of Season 2!!!! I can't wait to tune in and watch. Anywayz, hope you have a labor free Labor Day, yesterday and until next time.

Laborious

So today... I have been working working working working working. I walked the dog, washed the dog, I washed the dog's bedding, washed the turtle tank, went to Pet Smart to buy a filter for his tank in the hot hot hotness of Georgia even though today was a pretty day as long as you aren't in traffic, I cleaned out all the things I used to wash the turtle tank, I cleaned the tub, sink, and just bathroom in general, took a shower, washed my hair (not always an easy feat for an African American woman like myself) and on top of that, people were mean to me!!!! Blargh! Days like this suck. But good thing I live in a fantasy world filled of my own original characters, one of which I am working on a story for... of course I polyvored (I'm officially adding this to my dictionary on my computer so I don't see a red line whenever I type it). Okay, people, you know I have a problem. Her name's Sidney and I've been toying around with her wardrobe and her style for some time, but I've just been drawing her more and more lately. i'll have to put up some of my rough sketches and character sheets and stuff, but for now, just another Polyvore. Alright, I'm in an annoyed mood, so I don't think I need to continue any further, but here's to hoping my night goes better.

Machete

Today is Friday, kiddies!!!! Today is also the opening for the Robert Rodriguez's Machete. This is one of those movies that I want to see, just for the awesome costumes. Okay, actually Michelle Rodriguez's costume in the Machete trailer is the only thing I remember about the trailer and I honestly couldn't tell you what the movie is about if I hadn't gone to look it up. And the thing is, the costume that is so distracting is just her in black bikini top, black pants, and an eye patch. So it's not like it's that intricate. I must have a problem, first Vanessa Hudgens in Sucker Punch and now Machete. But she did look good in it, and I'll be the first to tell you that I'm not a huge huge Rodriguez worshipper fan. I'm hoping the movie is as good as the all star cast. I'm really excited to see it because of the a lot of the cast is made up of Hispanic and Latin actors. Hollywood needs more movies with leads of color in general and not just as supporting roles or as extras in the background. But that's just me on my soap box.

Oh, Happy Day

Didn't have anything too important to blog about today, other than the fact that I had an awesome day today! I'm so happy, and for the last thirty minutes of the day (eastern standard time), I just wanted to share that with you all. I've decided that I need much stronger pieces in my portfolio and that includes some fine art things instead of just design type things. So I'll be working on a self-portrait soon and another array of projects. And as you guys should know by my love of Victoria's Secret, I really love lingerie and cute things like that, so I really want to do something around that as well and see what comes of it. I need my portfolio to be strong and I haven't done anything too impressive in quite awhile. I'm also making a pinup sketch for someone special because they are moving and it's making me so sad!!! So I have a lot on my plate now on top of applying to college and applying for a job. I hope I get it... or win the lottery... you know, whichever comes first would be nice.

Okay, I'm so sorry because I've been neglectful lately. But honestly it's because I had pictures to put up, but I was too lazy to edit them. I know, I'm horrible. And I had been trying to finish this post for the past three days, but I couldn't post any pictures because they weren't uploading correctly. I hate posts without pictures or video or anything like that, being a visual person, so that's my excuse. But anyway, my weekend has been very weird. I spent around $16 at the store on an unexpected trip... which isn't that bad, because I got things that are awesome. And have nothing to do with fashion, but I thought I would share anyway.

First up, I found these really cute erasers.

They even come apart which I thought was just adorable, but that's me. I'm easily amused when it comes to things like this.

I also got a bunch of markers, really just for inking and line art purposes. Markers are way too expensive these days for my college student budget. I hadn't heard of this brand before the other day, but I decided to try it: Tul markers. And yes, I am a designer... I admit I like things to be aesthetically pleasing just as much as I like for them to be efficient and useful.

They are so pretty... even though they cost me about a dollar more than the other famous permanent markers, they were too pretty for me to resist. I know, I know, I have a problem. Found out buying them marker for marker, however, they are cheaper.

And lastly, well, actually I did this in reverse order, as this was the first thing I picked out, I got a box to put it all in. A really useful box actually from Really Useful Products. So really I found a box and then bought stuff to put in it.

I know, I'm so efficient.

Well, that's all. Post took me three days to do and that's all... yep... Anyway, I'm going through a big life transition it seems. So many decisions to make in the coming months and my peace of mind seems to be short lived. I did post a lot on my my art account these past few days, so if you have the time, you can see some of my design sketches and illustrations and just hang out on there. Later days!

Today is not that good of a day. I feel sick sick sick and have for a few days now. I just haven't felt like posting even though I had several ideas... Lately I've been inspired by all things real and gritty and not fantasy as much. Guess that changed today when I was thinking about princesses and unicorns and such. Which is why I'm doing a post about princesses... not the real princesses that we have in the world but the fantasy princesses. You know, the kind that just eat cake all day but don't gain weight and don't have to act as diplomats and ambassadors? I sometimes wish I were a princess. More for the simple fact I could banish people or have an in castle doctor or throw huge balls. Especially since last night me and my friends were going to go to Opera Nightclub in ATL. And get our dance on while I choked and gagged and passed out from all the gross smoke and the fact that a bottle of water is $6. Anyway, that would be no stress for a princess anyway. If I were a princess, I'd walk around wearing flowy things like kimono-inspired blouses and pretty pastels and gorgeous earrings. And I would obviously need one of the Disney Princess bags by Dooney & Bourke:

Today is my madre's birthday and in honor of that, I decided to do a post that reminds me of her. The Miss Universe pageant. It was on last night and I watched it with her. Why? Not because I like pageants mind you... in fact I really don't like them at all. I'm bashing however, I was in a few pageants when I was a little kid and one of my friend/old college roommate Rebecca is definitely no stranger to pageants. She does so many pageants and she's great at them. anyway, they really aren't my thing however, but my mother enjoys them, mostly to see the beautiful costumes. Anyway, while trying not to be distracted by Bret Michaels' bandanna as he hosted the show (I thought he was such an odd fit, but, yes, I get the whole Donald Trump/Celebrity Apprentice thing), I enjoyed the beautiful dresses the strolled along the stage in. Sure, I wish we could see some of the real interviews instead of just seeing the more superficial part of it, but I did enjoy the final last question the top five got asked for the judges. My favorite answer? Well, that belonged to Miss Australia. At first she wasn't a personal favorite of mine, but her just loved how her cute and bubbly personality came through with her answer.

Anyway, the swimsuits were awfully cute that she was talking about. The swimsuits are from Dar Be Dar and Tala Raassi is the designer behind it. Her philosophy for her suits seems to fit Miss Universe well, basically saying that I thought they were pretty cute. Still wondering why pageants need a swimsuit competition anyway. But at least I found out about a cool designer I didn't know about before.

Oh, and of course I couldn't leave the dresses out. Miss Mexico, who is now Miss Universe 2010 looked amazing in red. She said she chose red because she wants to represent the 200 years of independence that Mexico is celebrating this year. I like how she chose something personal and yet national for her whole country. She is so beautiful and was one of my favorites from the beginning.

Oh, and my mother is saying she is about 10-15 years older than she actually is, despite the fact that she looks really young so that people don't just think she looks good for her age, but unbelievably younger. She's silly. Happy Birthday, Mommy, you'll always be the prettiest woman in the universe to me.

Okay, I'm seriously sorry about the lack of updates... there's no excuse other than I really haven't been that inspired fashion wise lately... except for a lot of ugly trends that seem to be happening just in time for Back-to-School, yay!!!! Anyway, I wanted to talk about something I love and right now that's lacy, cute, and feminine, yet still rather unexpected and quirky. I found that in the form of socks... weird, maybe, but I'm usually all over some knee socks... (I'm tall so standard knee socks rarely are on me) or tights or stockings though mine definietly rip faster than I can buy them. Last year I raved about the American Apparel thigh high socks... that was before this blog, but this Fall I really want these Falke socks. I saw them in the September 2010 issue of Marie Claire magazine. I usually don't buy this magazine, and although it was the cover that drew me first and foremost, as I quickly flipped through it I saw some of the most beautiful fashion spreads, especially this one, titled: "She's a Lady." And that's when I had to buy it! They were such gorgeous pictures with amazing styling.

I just bought some lovely striped socks from Target, but seeing these makes me want to go and buy some more. Especially since these are so grown up... haha... I am stuck at the age of 20 when half of what I wear seems to look like a ten year old and the other have a thirty year old. Not that that's too bad a thing. It seems that these socks could be knee highs that were pushed down a bit, but either way, I see them styled with sophisticated pointy toed shoes, chunky high sandals, booties, or peeking over the top of a tall boot, even sneakers like Converse.

They are my must haves for Fall. I can't wait! Oh, and to offset all of these Fall must-haves I'm going to try to get another job in addition to my babysitting stint already... bah!!!! But it must be done. And hopefully will be.

This weekend I had no real time to update due to visiting with a friend in Columbus, GA. It was an awesome city and I would love to go back sometime. Last night I went to see Scott Pilgrim vs. Aud 2... or that was what was on my ticket stub with some of the people I had met. Well, before it was torn it said the real title of the awesomely trippy Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie. How did I like the movie? Well, of course I had to love it despite Michael Cera playing Michael Cera, but I loved it because I love Scott Pilgrim... and comic books/graphic novels and video games and Canadian indie rock, and most of the main actors were playing characters who were their age or close to it as oppose to a 30-year old playing a 14-year old, it's refreshing to see a movie about people around my age... so yeah... I was bound to enjoy it. Anyway it was colorful, artsy, music-y nonsensical awesomeness. I was so glad to hear the cover by the faux band the Clash at Demonhead (headed by Envy Adams [actress/singer Brie Larson]) of Metric's awesome song "Black Sheep." I love love Metric and was happy that Brie rocked at it and made her role very sexy and clever.

Did anyone else care to notice Envy's awesome shoes? I love those things.

And on another note, I got some new skinny jeans from Old Navy. They were having a big sale for jeans $15-$19. Anyway, surprisingly I walked out of the store with the next size down in some new blue blue skinny jeans (I guess the exercise was paying off, haha).

Pretty Little Liars the Finale!!!!

Yay! Who watched the Pretty Little Liars summer finale? Well, I thought the show was amazing last night and very well done for all of the drama the show usually foretells. I don't want to let anything go, but Hanna always finds out all the secrets before anyone else, haha. Why is that? Anyway because of all the suspense I really didn't look at the fashion other than Mona's chic "glamping" hoodies. "Glamping" a term I know all too well thanks to the glorious designers of Dsquared² and thier Spring 2010 RTW. I even blogged about
their bag that I loved! The jackets said "Camp Mona" in pink letters reminiscent of those cheeky, amazing shirts from House of Holland. But as obnoxious as Mona was for making everyone wear them, I thought they were kind of cute and I wish I could have picked up some awesome swag from her b-day party.

Spencer just seems less thrilled than I would have been about the cute hoodies...

But Aria stole the episode again for me, looking cute as she normally does in her dark colors. She definitely makes muted tones and neutrals look really chic. I love her way of layering, and if that isn't inspiration enough for the new school year.

I can't see where Pretty Little Liars goes, haha.

Oh, and I finally got my camera today in the mail... only problem now is the fact that my memory card has been missing for I don't know how long and it is so unlike me to lose something like that. Anyway, I think I will just have to borrow my sister's until I find mine or buy another one. I am really, really hoping that I find mine. But I'll think of something. Until another post.

Shirts and Skins

Okay, this is a little late, but who cares in the world of Skins!!!! Any huge fan would know or at least care to know that the new cast of Skins, that is to say Series 5 and 6 and the 3rd Generation has been revealed!!!! I can't wait to see how the cast all interacts with one another and it's seriously got me curious on how they plan to make these series even better than the last ones. I for one hope there is a bit more comedy and less heavy drama. That's a shocker for me to say considering I love love love drama and I usually hate comedies (unless it's really dry comedy). But even with a splash of more laughter, I think Skins will be okay! The cast consists of some well-knowns, such as Dakota Blue Richards of The Golden Compass to some not so well knowns.

3rd Generation: Series 5 & 6

I'm not gonna lie though, not only do I love Skins for the sexy drama, I love it also for the awesome fashion (especially the 3rd and 4th series). Plus, fashion can really make or break a show for me, I can not be visually bored with costumes or I just won't be able to get into it. Who didn't love Effy's chicness or Pandora's offbeat kookiness or Katie's hot, feminine style? Or in the 1st series, the lovely Cassie's style which goes without words? Well, I for one did and in 2011 (which kills me because it's so far away) I will be tuning in to see where this series fashion takes me. Hopefully it will be inspiring and original and a clear outlook of their personalities.

What do you think? Do they look like they can take Bristol by storm?

The Last 50 days of Summer

Today was a bittersweet day for me. I've decided to not go back to university and the decision has just been eating away at me. It was one of the most hardest things I've had to decide, but I think that since getting closer to my dreams hasn't necessarily worked out the traditional way, it may be time to try something more untraditional and see where that path goes. Not just school wise but also fashion wise. All of the awesome September issues of all my favorite magazines are coming out! And I love for my issues to be rippling with so much info! You always get the thickest issues ever, so I'm excited. But let us remember not to be too hasty. I don't know about the rest of the world, but down here in Georgia, USA it is hot hot hot and before I run to throw on my skinny corduroys and chunky purple sweaters or my lacy tights and olive blazers, I would still like to cling on to the last days of beach vacations, pool parties, family reunions, high school/college friends and lazy summer days. I mean, Fall isn't until September 22. So embrace the last 50 days of summer (whether you are in school or not), but get excited for the Fall!

Haha, as if my life couldn't get more drama filled...it has. But that's me and in order to find solace, I love drinking tea. It calms me down. Reminds me that I'm a "hippie" as all my friends like to say due to my environmental loving, recycling, vegetarian, green tea drinking self. Anyway, so I was at the grocery store with one of my best friends buying some green tea and I came across a brand I haven't tried before: Peace Iced Tea. According to the brand's website, the company launched Peace Iced Tea last December, so it's not even a year old! No wonder I haven't really seen it. But the cans feature cool art work that was so inspiring to me. It makes me want to save every can, though at 99¢ I can actually afford to get more, haha.

They feature the art of John Malloy, whom I've never heard of until now, but as I love art, especially illustration and design, I am excited to have found another artist to enjoy. The art is colorful and like a collage of images inspired by people and animals from around the world. The art is very cultured. It really is just beautiful to me. So yay for finding inspiration in cans of tea that you found by chance. I ended up buying the ceylon tea which compared to the green tea I normally get, it tasted like candy and was so sweet and yummy.

Oh and my uncle has given me money to buy a camera with. I can't wait to get my camera in the mail and start taking pictures of my world. I'm beyond excited to make this blog a bit more personal to my everyday life and start showing other sides of me. Give it about a week and hopefully I will have found an even better direction to take this blog. I am definitely going to keep many of the old elements while infusing more of me. I don't want this to turn into solely a photo blog or even an art blog, but I do want to add more photos and art. So bear with me as I get all of this worked out. I will be updating more as well, this week has just been difficult to, so sorry for the mini hiatus.

Well, things finally cleared at the bank and at iTunes so now I have my album! It's amazing and worth the little bit of wait that I had to do longer. Smoosh definitely didn't disappoint. Today, I purchased the newest Smoosh album The World's Not Bad off of iTunes... or I attempted to. Due to a messed up ATM right outside of my bank, my deposit hasn't gone through totally. I'm super annoyed because it's being "processed" and mad at myself for just not going into the bank and depositing it in person which I still ended up having to do, due to the fact that the ATM didn't accept all my money and since it took forever to accept the first batch of money, I wasn't going to be a fool and try again. So I still ended up going into the bank. Anyway, everything seemed like it had checked out at the bank and ATM and that the money was in the account, but no, it's being "processed" so when I tried to download the music off of iTunes, it of course didn't download automatically and now I'm stuck with an authorization hold... and no music. I've been waiting for like years for the new, third Smoosh album. There was an internet rumor or original release date that it would come out in late 2009, but it ended up coming out the in June of 2010 and I waited until I had finally gotten enough money together to not care about parting with $10 for the album... so I'm getting it a little less than a month late... except I haven't gotten it, have I? And this is all thanks to lazy/time efficient me trying to deposit money in a faulty ATM. But from what I've heard of the snippets of songs I've been able to hear, it's gonna be an awesome cd. I love the wistful, enchanting, dreamy sounds of Asy, Chloe, and now Maia (and Chloe's one of my favorite drummers). Here's the song "Promises" that they preformed live. It's a song on the album as well.

I've seriously loved this band for years and am content with waiting a few days longer in order to get their new album... but that was my cautionary tale of using an ATM for depositing money.

Babysat two well-behaved children while reading NYLON
Made tentative plans with friends
Ate cake and ice cream
Downloaded iTunes just to listen to the newest Smoosh album that's been out for almost a month now
Checked my bank account to see if I had money for said Smoosh album...I did not
Thought about what to talk about today on my blog....
Contemplated whether I have a serious addiction to Polyvore.

Other than the fact that there is a new Degrassi tonight, there is a new Huge tonight... which I have to catch up on since I missed last week due to Degrassi. Nothing much to say today, other than, it's been a pretty good day. I baked a cake yesterday for my stepfather's birthday, then my little brother and I iced it, and finally my mother and I decorated it:

It was golden yellow cake with a vanilla icing, choppped strawberries on top, and a bunch of candles for my stepfather's birthday!

This is the scary cake on fire!!! Way too many candles... for that size cake.

And last shot. It was a really good cake.

Well, I should say it is a really good cake, because we still have some slices left. I love baking. My next thing to make however is hummus. I found a recipe online and I hope I can do it justice. I should be making that later on tonight or maybe even tomorrow, while watching all of my shows. Haha, laters.

Oh, and I'll probably put the second picture up on my deviantART account, just because I like it really not because I'm a "photographer.". :-)

Today sadly marked the last day of Comic-Con International 2010. *Sadness* because if there's one thing I love just as much as fashion, it's comic books... though I'm a strong supporter of webcomics since I'm poooooorrrrr, but it was pretty cool looking at all the new comic books/graphic novels/whathaveyou and movies and shows and games that are all about to come out. I wish I could actually go to it, but I had to watch it from my TV screen on G4. Still pretty awesome though. But someday I'll go, haha. But anyway, something that really peaked my interest was the short coverage on G4 about the upcoming movie Sucker Punch. I'd heard about it before through various things like Vanessa Hudgens interviews in a lot of the fashion magazines. But today was the first time delved into posters and costumes, etc for the movie. It looks hot, by the way. I mean, the costumes look really hardcore and sexy and if strong and sexy isn't a combination I love, well... anyway, the movies scheduled to be released March 25 of 2011. That happens to be one of my oldest best friend's (from Louisiana) birthday. And that's totally irrelevant. But while I can wait a few months for it, (and get by on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World in August and Harry freaking Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I in November which I'm totally rereading the book for) I'm pretty excited to see more. I hope it holds up to what it looks like. Here are some of the posters:

Knit two Purl one

I knit. I love to knit. I used to knit a lot more than I do now. In fact, learning to knit started a huge trend at my high school with me and this other girl, and also got people asking me to make them things, etc. I'd still like to do that, since I want my own business, only when people ask me to make them things, I feel uninspired and then I don't make anything at all. Ha, that's the plight of the artist, right? Selling out? Just kidding, but it can really be uninspiring, not to mention lots of knitters and crocheters and anyone who loves making clothing would attest that when making something for fall and winter, it's best to start in the spring and summer, and vice versa. That way your clothing can actually be ready, come the actual season, but who wants to carry around a bunch of spun fibers in the middle of hot hot summer when you can be diving into a pool? But one look at skeins on Noble Knits and you'd have to get reinspired no matter what the season. Not only is the yarn beautiful, colorful, whimsical, and a bit kookier than your everyday fare, but they've got cute patterns on site as well. I've only just ventured onto this site, but frankly, I'm glad I did. I love yarn that's multicolored, sparkled, multi-textured, and when anything I make comes out more surprising than the next.

I haven't bought any yet, but I'd love to try the brand Adriafil Capriccio Yarn by Adriafil :

I have had Winnie the Pooh stuck in my head all morning! Mostly because I got a call this morning telling me to relay a message to someone in the house, waking me up out of my awesome and much needed sleep. I am super sick, you guys. I got resick... I just don't know why this keeps on happening and always on a Thursday or Friday when it starts up so I can't get to the doctor and I'm not about to go to the ER for a sore throat, but darn, can't I catch a break. Anyway, if you know me, you'd know I have a really hard time falling back to sleep once I'm up, so I only like when people call me for emergencies so early in the morning or so late at night, but fine. Anyway, when I'm not feeling well at all, or it's a rainy day and I'm stuck inside, various lyrics from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh movie pop into my head. Lyrics from "A Rather Blustery Day" or "Rumbly in my Tumbly." Some honey for my throat would be more than appreciated. And for some reason, I love love love Winnie the Pooh songs, all the theme songs from the various shows as well. But anyway, since I can't watch TV at my house right now and I hate spending all my time on our favorite social networking sites, I cave and I Polyvore. I know, I know, you are maybe sick of seeing outfits, yes? But really, I'm stuck inside all the time. This outfit however was really inspired by my hatred of jeggings... they are just so... trendy... and I just hate them really, but I suppose when worn in the right way, such as creating an interesting silhouette, I can forgive the trend. So I was Polyvoring again today and after having an awesomely fun, but busy time last night, I just wanted to go easy for today. For some reason i'm really inspired by matching lipstick to clothing no matter how uncommon that color is. For the set I just made, I used orange lipstick, a trend that has been popping up for the last couple of months and to me is just beautiful. I think everyone can find a shade of orange or coral that will look great on them whether it's light and sparkly or opaque and matte or a stain. And orange is such an great summer color, I love love love wearing lipstick/gloss/stains that look like I just chugged a glass of Kool-Aid so I know there has to be some shade of orange that is somewhat natural looking. Anyway, I only thought of that because I found an awesome shirt with Donald Duck. That brings me back so many childhood memories such as his cute little theme that went, "No one... but Donald Duck.
